1,000 Books Before Kindergarten!

The Woodward Public Library is excited to announce a new program to encourage early children’s literacy!

This program is for children ages Birth-5 and the goal of the program is to read to your child every day and reach 1,000 books before he/she enters kindergarten!

It’s as easy as reading 1 book a day to reach the goal in 3 years, or reading 3 books a day to reach your goal in 1 year. Whatever your speed, our hope is that you and your child will foster a new love of literature and have fun in doing so!

Ready to get started?

Register at the library beginning September 8th (Tuesday) and receive a book bag containing program information, a reading log, a literacy calendar, a bookmark, a sticker, a coloring sheet, and a book to get you and your child started.

Every time your child completes 100 books, they can come in for a milestone sticker and a new log! A picture will be taken and posted on our Facebook page at each 100, 500, 800, and 1,000 Milestone! Once your child has reached 1,000 books, their picture will be placed on the library Wall of Fame and they will receive a special prize!
